Cellophane, filmed in Nov 2019, is a dance short film which explores the use of plastic wrap to manipulate the body as well as manipulating the plastic wrap with the body. Cellophane is used for packaging, gift wrap, as well as processed meats and is transparent. The plastic represents a safety net, a superficial barrier from the world, and a restraint that keeps the dancer fixed in place. The film will expose the dancer in their vulnerable state as they explore this barrier and how it relates to the space around them.
Directed by Elizabeth Burr. Filmed by Sean Valesco-Dodge. Danced by Arzu Salman.
